US President Donald Trump renewed his threat to release ISIS fighters back to the European countries. He warns that US would drop them at the border and the Europeans will have to capture them again.

We’ve done Europe a tremendous favor

Donald Trump tells European allies to take captured ISIS fighters or they’ll be released. Trump’s suggestion for the US to release the prisoners comes amid plans to reduce its 2,000 troops in Syria.

I’m sorry, but you either take them back, or we’re going to let them go at your border.
Donald J. Trump, US President

Is the transatlantic relationship irreparably damaged?

Trump told reporters at the White House that the U.S. did Europe a “tremendous favor”. He mentioned the United States is not going to have thousands and thousands of people that we have captured stationed at Guantanamo Bay, spending billions and billions of dollars.

Europeans have to make their decision. Otherwise, we’re releasing them at the border.

He says it’s time for countries such as Germany and France to take back these thousands prisoners of war. But they came out from Germany, they came out from France. We captured them. We did everyone a big favor. We’ve taken over the caliphate 100 percent.

White House Press Conference

Speaking with reporters at the White House,Trump specifically mentioned the United States is not going to have thousands and thousands of people at Guantanamo Bay, for the next 50 years and spending billions and billions of dollars… We’ve done Europe a tremendous favor — they mostly come out of Europe. And we’ve done them a tremendous favor. And the United States is not going to pay the cost of thousands and thousands of ISIS fighter prisoners in Guantanamo Bay or someplace else. We won’t do it.

So, they have to make their decision. Otherwise, we’re releasing them at the border.

Is the transatlantic relationship irreparably damaged?
